Top 5 Ways to Look Beautiful in Your Wedding Photographs

As a wedding photographer of 9 years I have honed a lot of techniques that help brides to look beautiful in their photographs.  Here you can find some of the tricks I have learned.

Top 5 Ways to Look Beautiful in Your Wedding Photographs.

  1. Keep fly-away-hair to a minimum. Although long flowing hair can look gorgeous, when photographing outside the wind will be your worst enemy. There is nothing worse than wanting to get back to your bridal suite or maybe enjoy the cocktail hour, but needing to wait for the wind to die down so the photographer can get your shots. Or even worse, having your hair covering your face in half your bridal portraits!
  2. Think about your shoes! While it is true that your shoes really won’t show for most of the night, a good photographer will pay attention to them. Don’t be scared to try a little color either. Pink or red shoes poking through the bottom of your gorgeous white wedding gown is an amazing accent. You can even put a little message on the bottom of shoes in jewels like “I DO”.
  3. No “claw hands”! Although your new hubby may be the most handsome man in the world, try not to grab hold of him your pictures. You want to have beautiful soft hands in all your photographs. Also, try to keep your middle and ring fingers together and softly separate your pinky and first finger. (Go ahead and try it now!) It is a simple way to keep your hands looking as stunning as your new ring!
  4. Be Happy! This may sound obvious, but many people are uncomfortable in front of the camera. Your feelings and emotions will show through in your portraits. You’re beautiful, you know you’re beautiful, and your husband knows your beautiful; don’t be afraid to shine!
  5. And following up on the last tip, don’t be afraid to tell your photographer “That’s just not me.” You need to feel comfortable in your pictures and while your photographer may have a pose that looks absolutely stunning with another bride; it may just feel ridiculous to you. Everyone is unique and has her own personality. You don’t want pictures that don’t represent who you really are, and a good photographer doesn’t either. Communicating with your photographer will help you to get those amazing portraits you’ve always dreamed of!

It's so funny, I never thought about wearing shoes other than white but I always LOVE when I see different shoes on brides!!! Wish I saw this post before I got married ;)
