We know how excited you are for your portrait session and to help get beautiful images we have a few clothing recommendations.

  • Wear solids or a very muted pattern.  You don't want your clothing to draw attention away from your beautiful expressions.  They could also possibly clash with certain backgrounds.  Do not wear anything with very tight stripes.  Cameras have a hard time interpreting them and you get what's known as moire pattern (think of a picture of a screen door and the wavy lines you see).
  • Nice rich colors always look great (like deep blues, greens, or reds).  Unless you have a dark complexion it is best to stay away from white and pastels (unless you are doing a maternity session; then one outfit completely in white is beautiful).  Black also has a tendency to fade into shadows.Your shoes will probably show in some of the poses so keep that in mind.
  • Your socks may also peek through when sitting so men should stay away from athletic socks if wearing dress shoes.
  • If your shoot will be outdoors you may want to use a touch of hairspray to keep your hair from getting in your face.
  • If your shoot is outdoors in the colder months it may be a little chilly and not all coats look nice in pictures. We will definitely try to move quickly for everyone's sake but layers are always great way to show off those great outfits but still feel comfortable.
  • Finally all these suggestions are just that, suggestions (except for not wearing tight stripes; that's not preference just science 😉.)  Most importantly you want to feel comfortable and confident.  The more relaxed and at ease everyone feels the more natural and beautiful your images will be.

We can't wait to see you!
